Departures and new arrivals: FCH-U23 strengthens and says goodbye to stars!
As part of a comprehensive restructuring, FC 08 Homburg announced on June 24, 2025 that several players were leaving the U23 team. Departures include Boris Becker, Arman Ardestani, Merouane Taghzoute, Murat Adigüzel, Elijah Manchester and Constantin Fath. Joel Ebler and Jonas Pfeiffer also say goodbye to the club's second team. Boris Becker, who played over 100 regional league games and 75 upper league appearances for various clubs, joined the FCH U23 in the summer of 2022 and made 86 appearances in the Schröder-Liga Saar. He is now moving to Saarland league team SV Rot-Weiß Hasborn. Arman Ardestani, who played in FCH's youth ranks and was active for the club between 2022 and summer 2024, will also leave the U23. After six months at FC Giessen, he returned to support the youth department. Merouane Taghzoute, who only moved from FC Hertha Wiesbach to Homburg in the summer of 2023, will no longer play for the U23s. In his first season he scored 17 goals and prepared 9 goals.
Further departures and their achievements
Murat Adigüzel, who joined the Green-Whites in the summer of 2022 and previously played over 250 league games, can point to 52 appearances in the Schröder League Saar, in which he scored 25 goals. Elijah Manchester, who has been playing for Homburg since summer 2021, is leaving the U23 after 65 appearances in the Schröder-Liga Saar and moving to SpVgg Hangard. Constantin Fath, who only came to Homburg from the second team of 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the summer of 2024, made 19 appearances for the U23s.
In the midst of these personnel changes, FC 08 Homburg also announces a new addition: Jonas Holzweißig will strengthen the central defense of the U23s. The 22-year-old, who most recently played for FC Bierbach in the regional league, is returning to his hometown of Homburg after a professional move. Holzweißig, who underwent comprehensive training at SV Elversberg and, among other things, was captain of the U19 in the A-Junior regional league, expressed his joy about the change and thanked coach and sporting director Mauro Mazzotta for the trust. The aim is to attack at a higher level in the new season.
The changes in the FC 08 Homburg U23 squad structure are characterized by a realignment that includes both departures and new additions in order to ensure the team's competitiveness and achieve long-term success.
