Experience the future of energy: MS Wissenschaft tours through Saarland!
On July 13, 2025, the MS Wissenschaft's interactive exhibition will be available to introduce visitors to the exciting topic of future energy. This year, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, together with the Science in Dialogue initiative, has chosen the topic “Future Energy”, which focuses on innovative technologies such as green hydrogen and fusion reactors. The MS Wissenschaft, an exhibition ship that has been traveling around Germany since 2002, will stop at several locations in Saarland in the second half of July 2023. SR.de reports that the first station in Saarburg begins on July 22, 2023.
From there, the ship will dock in Saarbrücken on July 26th and in Saarlouis on July 31st before docking in Merzig from July 31st to August 3rd. The MS Wissenschaft offers around 30 exhibits for actively exploring the energy supply of the future and addresses the social, ecological and economic aspects of the energy transition. The aim is to take a look at Germany's path to climate neutrality by 2045.
Interactive experiences and educational offerings
Visitors aged 12 and over are particularly invited to take advantage of the diverse offerings of the MS Wissenschaft. The Fraunhofer Society contributes the exhibit “The Fascination of Hydrogen”, which deals with the storage and conversion of excess energy into pollutant-free electricity. Hydrogen therefore represents a connection between climate protection, energy transition and economic progress.
A special feature of the exhibit is an interactive game designed to dispel the myths surrounding hydrogen. However, the effective use of this technology requires the use of renewable energies, efficient technologies and a suitable infrastructure. Further information on Fraunhofer research on hydrogen is available on the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft website.
