Creativity from the corner: Summer Academy in Dudweiler starts!

An exciting summer academy will take place in the Dudweiler cult foundry from August 1st to 3rd, 2025. This creative event is held at Wilhelmstrasse 20 and offers a total of 12 different workshops for adults. The events are aimed at creative minds and those interested in learning new skills or deepening existing knowledge.

The workshops offered include topics such as jewelry upcycling, drawing for beginners and photography. Further creative options include a course in creative candle casting, soapstone processing, a lino printing workshop and a concrete course especially for women. The production of a notebook and a sewing workshop for beginners are also part of the offer, supplemented by a percussion workshop.

Course times and registration

The workshops start on Friday evening and continue on Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. During the breaks, participants are treated to coffee, cake and sausages. As part of the ongoing trend towards sustainable design, upcycling workshops are becoming increasingly popular. An example of this is the upcycling sewing workshop, which took place on June 28th and 29th, 2022. This event was offered as part of Regensburg Sustainability Week to focus on sustainable practices in everyday life.

Sustainability through upcycling

The upcycling sewing workshop, organized by the Lower Bavaria/Upper Palatinate Student Union in collaboration with students, enabled participants to view and redesign the fabrics they had brought with them. Fashionable bags and numerous other creative upcycling projects were created. The participants were able to implement their ideas directly using a variety of sewing machines.

In order to take part in the workshop, you needed to bring your own materials such as fabric scraps, unused clothing and bed linen. Sewing utensils such as fabric scissors, tape measures and pins also had to be brought along. The registration deadline was June 20, 2022 and registration takes place via an email address, which simplified the organization of participation.

The summer academy at the Dudweiler cult foundry and the corresponding upcycling events illustrate the increasing importance of creativity and sustainable design in our modern society. Such commitment not only promotes individual skills, but also raises awareness of environmentally conscious actions in today's world.
