SV Kirrberg celebrates historic promotion to the association league!
The football world in Kirrberg is upside down. SV Kirrberg will compete in the Northeast Football Association League next season. This represents the first promotion in the club's 80-year history, and the anticipation is palpable. As the Saarbrücken newspaper reported, this historic success comes after an impressive season in which SVK became runner-up in the Regional League East and qualified nine points behind the second team FC Palatia Limbach.
The decisive phase came with the relegation game against FC Uchtelfangen. Things initially looked bleak for Kirrberg as the team trailed 2-0 at halftime. But Mohamed Yakhni and his teammates showed great fighting spirit and turned the game around. Within a few minutes, Henning Zahles, Jan Berger and Marc Kevin Marx scored the goals for the eventual 5-2 victory. As in a report by FuPa held, the second half was seen as an expression of Kirrberg's dominance.
Preparations for the new season
After promotion, preparations for the new season began on June 20th. The player-coaches Jan Ruffing and Lars Kaula continue to lead the team in their dual role. With a current squad of 26 players, which includes some new signings, the team will train several times a week - an increase compared to the previous national league season, which only saw two sessions per week.
Among the new additions are Mateo Koch, Kenny Kuhn and Arnaud Kölsch, all of whom come from the U19 team at FC Palatia Limbach. In addition, Dennis Fuß was signed as a central defender by Limbach, and Hendrik Simon returns to Kirrberg as an offensive player after previously playing at FSV Jägersburg. Particular attention is also being paid to Marc Neu, who is returning after an injury that lasted over a year. Further reinforcements come from Akif Yilmaz from the Hangard gaming association.
The challenges of the association league
Despite the overwhelming success, there are challenges that need to be overcome. The goal for the new season in the association league is to stay in the league. The first competitive game will take place on August 3rd against SV Schwarzenbach. The first home game will be played on August 10th against SV Furpach at 3 p.m. While the first team started the new league with motivation, the SVK's second team also celebrated promotion to the Bliestal district league, which underlines the club's bilateral track record.
The restructuring in training is also significant as the first and second teams no longer train together. This is intended to help individual teams prepare more specifically for their future challenges. Especially after the difficult situation that Marcel Wagner experienced in the first test match against Spvgg. Quierschied due to a suspected cruciate ligament injury, medical care in the squad is of crucial importance.
