Zillenelite makes the Danube shake: Exciting competition in Untermühl!
Today, July 9th, 2025, the elite Zillen drivers from Upper Austria and Lower Austria gathered in Untermühl an der Donau for the traditional Mühlviertler Zillen competition. A total of 83 Zillen crews took part in the race to prove their skills in exciting races. The Plöcking fire department organized the competition for the first time and ensured that it ran smoothly.
The weather conditions that day were optimal. The temperature remained pleasant and only a short drizzle did not cause any disruption. Philipp Kern from FF Plöcking set an outstanding mark in the Zillen single with a daily best time of 04:33.36, just slightly above the existing course record. In the Zillen-two category, Jakob Frank and Philipp Fürst from FF Erla impressed with their performance.
Successes of the FF Plöcking
The Plöcking fire department was able to achieve numerous top positions. In the Zillen-Zweier Bronze A class, Seiwald and Kern took second place. Particularly worth mentioning are the victories of Müller and Riepl in the Zillen two-man bronze B, as well as in silver B. In addition, Katrin Weiß and Lisa Seiwald were not only victorious in the Zillen two-man women's bronze, but also in silver. The FF Plöcking drivers also shone in the singles competition: Philipp Kern, Josef Riepl as challenge cup winner and Katrin Weiß took home medals. Rainer Müller also made it onto the podium with a third place in this category.
From next year, the organizer is planning to change the competition route in the single class. This is intended to bring the athletes' technique into greater focus, which represents an exciting further development for the competition.
Awards and special features
Vice Mayor Burgi Kepplinger, State Parliament member Gertraud Scheiblberger as well as Mr. Lang and Mayor Gerhard Fölser were present at the trophy presentation to honor the winners and conclude the event in a fitting manner.
