Career Day in Heidelberg: Experience professional diversity up close!
On May 16, 2025, the career day “explore us #findyourvocation” took place in the Rohrbach-Süd industrial area in Heidelberg. The event attracted a large number of visitors and was a success after the premiere last year in Wieblingen-Mitte. Initiated by the Heidelberg Alliance for Training and Work and coordinated by the city of Heidelberg, the event aimed to increase the awareness of Heidelberg companies and to offer a wide range of insights into various fields of activity and careers.
Over 20 companies presented themselves as training companies and presented more than 50 apprenticeships, 30 dual study programs and around 70 different professional fields. The industries represented included web design, metal construction and medical assistance, which opened up a wide range of possibilities for visitors.
Diverse offers and promotions
The event was aimed at a diverse target group. Young people, students, career changers and experienced professionals had the opportunity to take part in various hands-on activities. For example, visitors could try out strength training with the police, experience production tours or take laboratory tours. These activities provided a practical insight into the work of the various companies and ensured a lively exchange with trainees and human resources managers.
Open from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the career day offered numerous activities. The participating companies were not only looking for new trainees, but also for qualified specialist staff. In addition to the training positions and dual study programs, the program included company tours and networking with specialist staff and trainees. This meant that interested parties could obtain information directly about career entry options and current job offers.
Sustainable perspectives for the future
What is particularly noteworthy is that further career days are planned in other Heidelberg commercial areas in the future. This promises to be a sustainable opportunity for young people and young professionals to find out about different career options. The Kadel company also presented its activities in the areas of heating, plumbing and ventilation, which further expanded the range of professions presented.
A free shuttle bus was set up for convenient travel between the individual companies, which made the mobility of visitors much easier. Heilbronn.de reports that such events not only help to attract skilled workers, but also to strengthen the image of Heidelberg as an attractive employer.
Overall, the career day was a complete success and not only provided a valuable overview of the professional opportunities in Heidelberg, but also promoted networking in the region. The large number of visitors and the wide-ranging program underline the importance of such events for the local economy and the training landscape.
