On October 29, 2025, Michael Eckerstorfer was unanimously elected as the new municipal party chairman of the ÖVP St. Ulrich, succeeding Veronika Schirz, who led the party for six years. During the handover, both Schirz and Mayor Alfred Allerstorfer emphasized the positive development of the community. A particular success was the construction of the crèche, which was carried out in close collaboration with the neighboring community of Niederwaldkirchen. Schirz pointed out the numerous events that are valued by the population.
Michael Eckerstorfer, who grew up in St. Martin and has lived in St. Ulrich with his wife for seven years, has ambitious plans for the future of the community. He would like to further develop the community as an attractive residential and family community. Among other things, he plans to organize various village evenings to strengthen cohesion and community in Ortisei.

Eckerstorfer sees great potential in his new role to better represent the interests of citizens and to actively shape the community. The creation of family-friendly offerings is particularly important to him, as this could make St. Ulrich an even more sought-after residential region. The support of his predecessor and the mayor will certainly be of use to him.
Veronika Schirz looked back with pride on her time as chairwoman and emphasized how important it is to bring the community together. The commitment she has shown over the years will certainly also be a foundation for Eckerstorfer on which he can implement his ideas.
