Steinheim: Kneipp facility remains closed for the time being due to damage

There are some important events coming up in Steinheim on June 2, 2025. On June 3rd at 3 p.m. there will be a visit to the Carricatura Museum in Frankfurt, where the exhibition “The Comic Art of Walter Moers” can be viewed. Registration was required by May 30th and the participation fee is 15 euros plus RMV costs. Other notable events include the Star Pilgrimage and the Ecumenical Bible Week, held June 9-13. On June 16th, the CCSW general meeting is also on the agenda, which begins at 8 p.m. in the youth home at Karlstrasse 47. Applications for the agenda must be submitted by June 12th.

On Whit Monday, June 10th, an ecumenical service will take place in St. Peter and Paul in Klein-Auheim. This service begins at 10 a.m. and is followed by a gathering.

Traffic and construction work

Current traffic reports report a complete closure on Karlstrasse, which will be necessary from June 4th to 18th due to shaft ceiling renovations. Detours are signposted to make detours easier.

In addition, the CDU Steinheim welcomes the construction of a dam in the Hellental local recreation area in order to prevent future floods.

News and Honors

The death of Georg Dressler, a local council member, is reported in the news. He died at the age of 69. The former pastor of St. Nikolaus, Paul Nieder, died on March 21st at the age of 80. In addition, Hildegard Geberth and Barbara Horch were awarded state letters of honor for their voluntary work.

A new development, the “High5 Gate & Garden”, was also inaugurated, driving the growth of the region. There is important news in the education sector: The Eppsteinschule will be converted into a pure secondary school from the 2028/29 school year, which will create space for 400 secondary school students in Hanau.

Kneipp facility out of operation

The Kneipp facility in Steinheim will initially remain out of operation for an indefinite period of time. Normally the season would start in May, however increased rainfall leads to waterlogging in the surrounding area. This results in ground movements, which, together with damming caused by a strictly protected beaver in nearby Hellenbach, exacerbate the problem. Necessary earthworks and the replacement of various elements of the Kneipp facility are pending, but an exact date for completion is currently unclear.

The mobile Kneipp facility is being examined as a possible solution for the coming season in order to continue to offer the health benefits of Kneipp therapy.

Finally, it should be mentioned that the club reports about the carnival meetings and the club trip to Fulda strengthen the local community. On May 30th, the “AnrogBar” took place under the direction of Mayor Dr. Maximilian Bieri to offer citizens a forum for discussion.
