On Saturday morning, July 12, 2025, at around 7:15 a.m. there was a serious traffic accident on the Ennstalstrasse B320, near the entrance to the Hauser Kaibling Bahnen valley station, in the Liezen district. Three people were injured, including two seriously, in a head-on collision between two cars.
The 22-year-old driver from the St. Johann im Pongau district was driving her car towards Salzburg. For reasons that are still unclear, she crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle driven by a 45-year-old man from the Liezen district. The collision was so violent that his vehicle was thrown over the northern embankment of the road and came to rest on an access ramp about ten meters below.
Details about the injured and the course of the accident
The effects of the accident were serious. The 45-year-old driver suffered serious injuries and was immediately taken to the DKH Schladming. The 22-year-old driver also sustained injuries of an unspecified degree and was also transported to DKH Schladming. Her 19-year-old brother, who was a passenger in the vehicle, had to be flown to the Salzburg accident hospital in the C-14 emergency medical helicopter.
Both vehicles were totaled. The accident caused significant traffic delays on the B320, which was completely closed in the area of the accident between 7:15 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. To support the rescue and recovery efforts, the Haus im Ennstal fire department and several rescue workers were on site.
