Traditional Saarbrücken restaurant closes: brooch change to the Roman tower!

The popular Brockenhaus restaurant in Saarbrücken will close its doors on July 7th after 15 years. Operators Valdete Peci and Hadi Delija will again be serving their Mediterranean cuisine in the remaining weeks, which was particularly appreciated for company and Christmas parties. The location of the Brockenhaus proved to be unattractive, especially in the warm season. In addition, the owners were only tenants there and longed for their own restaurant.

How sol.de reports, they have already acquired a new restaurant: “Zum Römerturm” in Erfweiler-Ehlingen. This location offers a better perspective for the operators as the size of the establishment makes it easier to access staff. The new restaurant is located near the Church of St. Mauritius and the historic Roman tower and is about 20 minutes from Saarbrücken.

A new beginning in the biosphere reserve

The move to “Zum Römerturm” not only represents a new beginning for the Peci/Delija family, but also an opportunity to realize their vision of their own restaurant. The new location, surrounded by the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve, has already been renovated and offers an inviting outdoor terrace. Popular dishes such as Pizza Rucola and Pizza Frutti di Mare will also be on the menu at the new restaurant, with some concept changes planned.

The opening of the “Zum Römerturm” is scheduled for September 5, 2025. In addition, the former Brockenhaus will be converted into an Asian buffet restaurant in the future, known as the “Brockenhaus Indochina Buffet Restaurant”. This innovation will enrich the gastronomic landscape in Saarbrücken and the surrounding area.

The history of the Brockenhaus

The Brockenhaus was more than just a restaurant; it had a long history that was visible in the stylish and modern design of the large rooms. Friends and families regularly crossed paths here because it offered a child-friendly environment with a play area and barrier-free access. It also had a guest parking space and an air-conditioned terrace, which offered an additional selection of food and ice-cold drinks in summer.

The restaurant at Halberg 1 in Saarbrücken was a popular destination, partly due to its proximity to the Saarbrücken Zoo. It's an exciting time for the owners as they prepare for their new challenge at “Zum Römerturm”. Information about their gastronomic offerings in the Brockenhaus can be found on the website restaurantbrockenhaus.de be read.
