A variety of events in the Saarbrücken City Library to promote sustainability and the joy of reading!

The Saarbrücken City Library is offering a varied program of events in the coming week that appeals to all age groups. From creative swap meets to informative readings and workshops – the library offers exciting experiences for the entire family. The events begin on Monday, November 5th, and offer an ideal atmosphere for reading lovers and creative minds.

The “Creative Design” swap meet runs until Saturday, November 8th. Under the motto “Exchange instead of buying”, the campaign aims to promote sustainability. Visitors can bring materials for painting, crafts and needlework and exchange them for other materials. This initiative is launched by the city library in order to use resources more consciously and to support creative projects, as mentioned on Dudweiler-Blog.

Creative readings and workshops

On Wednesday, November 5th, the Silent Book Club will take place on the second floor of the city library from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. In a quiet atmosphere, participants have the opportunity to read their own books or titles from the collection, without peer pressure. Participation is free and registration is not required, according to Saarnews.

For the little visitors there will be a reading with the illustrator Dorota Wünsch on Thursday, November 6th at 10 a.m. This event is part of the “Wild in a Jam Jar” reading series, which is suitable for children aged three and over. After the reading, a creative hands-on activity is planned that will give the children a playful understanding of what they have learned.

Education and protection in the digital age

A simple language library tour will also be offered on Thursday, November 6th at 12 p.m. This tour is designed for people who want to learn more about language learning and literacy media. The meeting point is on the third floor of the library and participation is free of charge and requires no registration.

An important topic will be discussed in the information event “Together against digital violence” this Thursday at 6 p.m. This event, which takes place in cooperation with the “Courage on the Net” initiative, addresses strategies to protect against bullying and hate on the Internet. Here too, participation is free, but online registration is possible.

The series of events concludes on Friday, November 7th with the reading “We Superheroines” with the gynecologist Dr. med. Dorothee Biener. It provides insights into basic information about the female body. This lecture is part of the events for Women's Issue Month 2025 and is also free of charge.

For further information and details about the events, those interested can visit the city library website. It is also possible to subscribe to a monthly email newsletter about upcoming events. The library is also active on social media, including Instagram and Facebook, where current news is shared.
