TH Bingen receives 1.2 million euros for a biotechnological project!
The Technical University (TH) Bingen is pleased to announce that it has received funding of around 1.2 million euros for its VIBBRANT project. This funding commitment is a significant step, as TH Bingen is the only university in Rhineland-Palatinate to receive this support. The project will start on October 1st, 2025 and run for a period of five years, until 2029. The focus is on the areas of biotechnology and bioinformatics, with the aim of improving the quality and accessibility of teaching and promoting educational equity.
A central measure of the project is the introduction of a new master's degree program and the establishment of a digital library that provides location-independent courses. A flexible study design is offered with a hybrid study model that connects graduates of the distance learning course in Medical Biotechnology with students of the face-to-face study course in Synthetic Biotechnology. This supports the compatibility of studies, work and family and is particularly beneficial for working students.
Project managers and goals
Responsibility for the project lies with Prof. Dr. Kerstin Troidl, Asis Hallab and Florian Heigwer. Prof. Dr. Antje Krause, President of the TH Bingen, as a supporting force. The planned measures aim to significantly improve study conditions and thus enable students to receive a high-quality education. The TH Bingen hopes that the implementation of these measures will lead to a sustainable, positive development in higher education.
The funding is provided by the Innovation in University Teaching Foundation. Further information about the call for proposals and the available funding can be found on the foundation's website. The importance of such initiatives for the development of education in Rhineland-Palatinate cannot be emphasized enough, as they affect not only the universities themselves, but also students and society as a whole.
