The Kehlen Music Association celebrates with a concert and BBQ in Luxembourg
Last weekend, the Kehlen Music Association traveled to the Luxembourg partner community Kehlen. The delegation was accompanied by representatives of the municipality of Meckenbeuren and the volunteer fire department. The aim of the trip was a musical exchange with the Fanfare Kehlen and the ceremonial opening of the new music hall. Schwäbische.de
The journey began on a bus on Friday morning and lasted about seven hours. Upon arrival, guests were welcomed with musical performances in front of the new music hall. This was followed by an official welcome and a shared barbecue, which laid the foundation for a sociable evening in which the participants explored Luxembourg City at night.
A varied program
Saturday was all about discovering the surroundings. The highlights included a visit to the Bock casemates, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a concert by the neighboring Keispelt-Meispelt band. The official opening of the new music hall took place in the evening. Mayor Félix Eischen von Kehlen and Mayor Georg Schellinger von Meckenbeuren addressed those present, as did the chapel directors Florian Assfalg and Maurice Molitor as well as Anne Zeihen from the partnership committee.
The event was opened musically by the band “Schippe 7”, followed by a performance by the Kehlen music association, who played pieces such as the well-known “Fischerin vom Bodensee”. The joint playing of music by both bands symbolized the bond between the communities and led to exuberant moments in the hall where people danced, clapped and sang.
Farewell and outlook
Sunday continued with a guided tour through Kehlen and the surrounding districts. The tour's topics included architecture, history and community work, giving guests a deep insight into the local culture. At lunchtime we met in the “Buvette” of the F.C. Throats for a shared meal.
The event ended with a musical farewell by Fanfare Kehlen, who thanked the visitors for their hospitality. The community of Kehlen as well as the partnership committee and the community of Meckenbeuren were also recognized for their organization and support. The participants are now looking forward to seeing each other again soon on Lake Constance.
