District Administrator Recktenwald: Youth in the St. Wendel district impressed!
On July 3, 2025, the 2024 Youth Prize was awarded in the St. Wendel district. This event is not only an honor for young people who have made a special commitment, but also a strong signal against the centuries-old criticism of young people. District Administrator Udo Recktenwald (CDU) discussed the prejudices that have existed since ancient times. Aristotle already spoke negatively about young people. But Recktenwald vehemently contradicted these hanging prejudices.
“The claim that young people are not getting involved is not true,” the district administrator made it clear. Rather, he emphasized the creativity and commitment of young people in the district. The youth award is intended to make such initiatives visible and to honor the positive work of young people.
Youth Prize 2024 and its meaning
The 2024 Youth Prize specifically highlights the innovative projects implemented by boys and girls. This was done as part of a competition, the results of which brought to light a variety of impressive projects. The award also aims to interest and raise public awareness of youth engagement.
The initiators of the prize, namely WNDN, want to signal how important youth engagement is for society. “We make a difference” is the motto, and the participants demonstrated this impressively.
Innovative projects in focus
The winning projects reflect a wide range of topics. From environmental initiatives to social projects to creative approaches, the young people show that they are ready to take responsibility and find solutions to pressing problems. Recktenwald emphasized that these young people often bring a breath of fresh air into society and open up new perspectives.
The awarding of the Youth Prize 2024 is not only a celebration of youth, but also an opportunity to strengthen the dialogue about their role in society. This positive perspective could stimulate similar initiatives and help refute negative stereotypes.
With the award behind them, the young winners are more motivated than ever to continue their projects and actively shape the community. This makes it clear: youth are and remain a driving force for change and innovation.
