Orientation march in Lebach: camaraderie, cold and unrivaled success!

On June 11, 2025, the 47th orientation march of the Lebach Reservists' Comradeship (RK) took place around Helmut-Dittrich-Platz in Zollstock. Under the leadership of Ofw d. R. Becker and Fw d. R. Hero, the event was organized in collaboration with the Saarland regional group of the Association of Reservists of the German Bundeswehr e.V. At 7 a.m., twelve teams started in freezing temperatures of just two degrees Celsius in a parking lot outside Lebach.

The march stretched over around twelve kilometers and took the participants past a total of 17 stations, which included both military and civilian tasks. The participants had to demonstrate their orientation knowledge by using classic navigation methods, such as determining coordinates, calculating the marching compass number and the reference point method.

Diverse challenges

Particular attention was paid to the challenges that incorrect navigation could bring: detours of up to 2.5 kilometers were possible if the orientation was incorrect. The tasks at the various stations were extremely varied. Among other things, the participants had to estimate distance, work at medical stations, shoot air rifles, do archery, throw practice hand grenades and cross a rope walkway. Knowledge of NATO structures, Bundeswehr weapon systems, international flag studies and military training content were also tested.

A strict control system ensured fairness and safety during the competition. The march monitoring and various checkpoints with stamp stations guaranteed that everything went smoothly. Despite the gathering rain clouds in the afternoon, the participants showed great commitment and fighting spirit.

Winner and comradely conclusion

In the military category, the Vorderpfalz 1 team was able to secure victory through precision and speed. In the civilian group, the Lebach West firefighting district won and also impressively demonstrated its skills. After the strenuous day, the event ended in a convivial atmosphere around the campfire, where camaraderie and drinks were enjoyed. The orientation march was not only a sporting success, but also a comradely success.

Parallel to this event, it should be noted that the Schneeberg hunters have organized their own orientation march for reservists for the second time. This initiative, initiated after intensive consultation and careful planning, shows the commitment within the reserve. This highlights the importance of such events in strengthening camaraderie and practical skills that are beneficial to participants. reservistenverband.de report that…
