A dramatic apartment fire on Karcherstrasse in Saarlouis caused a stir on Sunday morning, May 25, 2025. The fire department was alerted at around 9:00 a.m. when a fire broke out in an apartment. A 27-year-old man had to be rescued from the smoke-filled apartment. The Saarland State Police Directorate announced on Monday, June 16, 2025 that this case was being investigated for particularly serious arson.
The police have indications of a possible attempted homicide. According to the investigation, arson is suspected. The investigating authority has also announced that two unknown male suspects are to be caught. Surveillance cameras recorded the two men, raising hopes that the case could be resolved quickly.
