The Ottweiler Correctional Facility is looking for a prison doctor (m/f/d) as soon as possible. This represents an attractive public service career opportunity that may be of particular interest to healthcare professionals. The employer offers remuneration in accordance with the collective agreement for doctors at university hospitals (TV doctors), while part-time employment is also possible.
The prison doctor will be responsible for the medical care of the incarcerated people. The tasks include, among other things, advising the prison management on medical matters and assessing the ability to be detained and the need for inpatient hospital treatment. This involves close cooperation with the prison management and various specialist services. In addition, cooperation with the North Rhine-Westphalia Correctional Hospital as well as other hospitals and specialists will be necessary to ensure the health of the prisoners.
Qualifications and Requirements
In order to apply for the position, some requirements must be met. This includes a completed medical degree and a license to practice medicine. Professional experience in general medicine or internal medicine is desirable, as is knowledge in the treatment of people with behavioral problems. Applicants should also have specialist training in internal or general medicine as well as experience in psychiatric and addiction medicine. Commitment and decision-making as well as the willingness to deal with the health problems of incarcerated people are also expected.
The Ottweiler Correctional Facility is responsible for pre-trial detention and the enforcement of youth sentences and prison sentences of no more than two years on male adults. It is important to mention that there are no night and weekend shifts, which allows for a good work-life balance.
