Vaccination situation and new virus variant

In terms of vaccination rates, Saarland as a whole has achieved a total of more than 2.3 million vaccinations. 83.9% of the population were vaccinated at least once and 82.4% have basic immunization. A notable aspect is that almost 70% of the population has already received a booster vaccination.

Another item on the agenda is the newly discovered Corona variant called Nimbus (NB.1.8.1), which has been classified as a “variant under observation” since January 2025. However, there is currently no evidence of more severe disease progression, which will calm the situation somewhat during the summer.

Overall, the Neunkirchen district can report a stable trend in combating the pandemic. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, the numbers show a positive picture and encourage further vaccination campaigns.

However, the previous figures are not without limitations, as they depend on the tests carried out and there may be delays in the transmission of data to the Robert Koch Institute, such as corona-in-zahlen.de notes.

The 283 deaths already registered from or with COVID-19 in the district (as of June 19, 2025) make it clear that the pandemic must continue to be taken seriously. With a mortality rate of 0.42% and an infection rate of 51.47%, the population is still called upon to remain vigilant and observe hygiene measures.
