Gas station in Illingen robbed: perpetrator fleeing with cash!
On October 30, 2025, there was a robbery at a gas station in Illingen in the early morning hours. Shortly before 3 a.m., two masked men entered the gas station on “Am Illinger Eck” street at the intersection with Mühlackerstraße and threatened an employee with a weapon. The perpetrator demanded money from the cash register and was able to escape with a three-digit amount of cash. The two men then fled in an unknown direction.
The first perpetrator is described as being around 190 cm tall. He was wearing black shoes, black pants, a black jacket with a hood and disposable gloves and was carrying a weapon. The second perpetrator was around 175 cm tall and was also wearing black clothing, consisting of black shoes, trousers and a hoodie. He also had disposable gloves on.
Police are looking for witnesses
The criminal police have started an investigation and are asking the public for information. Witnesses are asked to call 07231/186-4444. Given the statistics surrounding gas station robberies, this incident is particularly notable. According to the 2024 police crime statistics, a decrease in robberies at gas stations was noted last year. 513 attacks were registered, the lowest level since the reunification of Germany.
The last two years, however, have seen an increase in robberies, which may have increased concerns among residents and employees in the industry. Despite the downward trend, the security concepts in gas stations have not been adjusted. This could lead to robberies continuing to be a serious problem in the future.
Safety and crime advice
The “perceived crime” is often higher than the actual numbers. There is speculation about the possible reasons for the decline in raids. Among other things, media reports indicate falling cash sales and secure cash register systems that may have contributed to a reduction in robberies. In order to combat the problem of nighttime break-ins, secure cash register systems are increasingly being stolen, which leads to significant structural damage.
However, the perpetrators of these burglaries are different from those who rob gas stations. These equally serious incidents highlight the need to rethink and strengthen security strategies to protect employees and customers. It remains to be seen how the region will respond to this latest incident.
