St. Oswald celebrates the opening of the Steilstufe-Wirt – a new meeting place!
In the small community of St. Oswald, which has 680 residents, a new inn, the “Steilstufe-Wirt”, was ceremoniously opened last weekend. This step not only creates a new gastronomic business, but also creates an important social meeting place. The innkeeper Samvel Khachatryan, 38 years old, sees the opening as the fulfillment of his lifelong dream of running his own country inn. The community has great expectations from this new meeting center, as the St. Oswald citizens' cooperative has played a key role in implementing the project. The opening ceremony was moderated by Franz Gumpenberger and began with a celebratory service and the blessing of the new building by Pastor Gerhard Kobler.
Before the remodeling, the building was a primary school until 1974, which was equipped for 65 children. After a year of construction, the new premises now welcomed the residents of the community. In her speech, Mayor Heidemarie Silber emphasized the central role of the inn in village life and described it as a new center of encounter. There are currently 241 active members in the St. Oswald citizens' cooperative who promote cohesion in the town.
A significant lease
The signing of a lease agreement between the citizens' cooperative and Samvel Khachatryan, which is considered a crucial milestone, was essential to the successful opening. Khachatryan brings with him extensive experience as a chef and kitchen manager, which is of great importance for the culinary direction of the “Steilstufe-Wirt”. The inn will serve home-style cooking, and he plans to move his main residence from Enzenkirchen to St. Oswald in order to run the business together with his family.
The total costs for the project amount to 800,000 euros net, with around 300,000 euros still outstanding. Loud Tips Numerous volunteers actively contributed to the progress of the construction work.
With the opening of the “Steilstufe-Wirt” the community not only touches the hearts of its citizens, but also makes an important contribution to the community and social life in St. Oswald.
