Silver for Hallein's fencing star Guttmann at ÖM in Salzburg!
On June 19, 2025, the Austrian Youth Fencing Championship took place in Salzburg, which was a great success for the Hallein Fencing Club. Particularly noteworthy is the performance of Alexander Guttmann, who won the silver medal in the U12 age group. Despite initial nervousness, he showed an impressive performance over the course of the tournament and finally reached the final.
In the decisive battle against a Carinthian opponent, Guttmann had to admit defeat in extra time, which earned him the Austrian runner-up title. The strong placings of Hallein's athletes underline the club's successful promotion of young talent.
U14 category results
In the U14 age group, several talented fencers competed for the Hallein Fencing Club. Valentina Schluder and Nika Walcher presented themselves solidly in their first U14 year and achieved respectable placements. Lena Steinbeck, who suffered only one defeat in the preliminary round and won her first knockout fight, finished the tournament in eleventh place after being eliminated in the round of 16. Martha Lechner managed to win all the preliminary round battles before she had to give up due to injury and finished in 9th place.
Dominik Pfingstl, who also competed in the U14 category, showed progress, but failed in the round of 16 and came 11th. These results reflect the high-quality training and commitment of the Hallein fencing club, which was also recognized by those responsible at the Salzburg State Fencing Association, who professionally organized the tournament day.
