Free entry for elementary school children: Discover Eastern Styria!
On June 7, 2025, an exciting initiative to promote regional education and experiences in Eastern Styria will be continued. East Styrian elementary school children have the opportunity to visit free excursion destinations and sights in the region with their class. This is the result of a cooperation between the Regional Development of Eastern Styria and the GenussCard Steiermark, which was launched last year to strengthen education and the connection to the region.
In order to take part in this educational initiative, schools must pick up the “Wimmelbuch Oststeiermark material box” as part of a further training course. This box contains various work assignments and flashcards that are divided into eight learning categories and help teachers link theoretical content with practical experiences. Schools have already expressed a positive response, often emphasizing the influence of such offerings on learners.
Diverse leisure activities
In addition to the activities for schools, numerous GenussCard experiences are also available. From the first night at a GenussCard partner establishment, visitors can use various offers free of charge. These include entries to over 280 attractions, including adventure tours, tastings and workshops in Eastern Styria. Direct marketers, nature educators and workshop leaders attach particular importance to Styrian warmth.
The free attractions include swimming at Lake Stubenberg, tastings at Almenland-Beekeeping Kreiner and Konditorei Schwindhackl, as well as tours of churches in Pöllau and tours of the old town in Hartberg. Visitors have the opportunity to access these experiences on the day of arrival, making regional exploration uncomplicated and engaging.
Sustainable protection in Rohrbach
Another important issue in the region is flood protection in Rohrbach. This will be prioritized due to the extreme rainfall on June 8, 2024 to avoid future damage. This rapid response to weather challenges demonstrates communities' commitment to ensuring the safety of their citizens.
Overall, the educational initiatives and leisure activities in Eastern Styria are not only a step towards a stronger regional identity, but also offer a wide range of opportunities for experiences and a better understanding of the surrounding area. For further information about the GenussCard and its offers, the website of the GenussCard Steiermark is available.
The initiative shows that combining education with practical experiences is a valuable enrichment for schools and the entire community. Take advantage of these opportunities for a varied and educational time in Eastern Styria!
