Big rush expected: 15th Oriental Market in Burbach!
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the 15th Oriental Market will take place in Burbach, Saarbrücken. From 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., the market square in Burbach becomes the scene of a colorful hustle and bustle with culinary delicacies, handicrafts and a varied stage program. The opening will take place at 12:00 p.m. by Mayor Barbara Meyer.
The Oriental Market promises a diverse culinary offering with authentic, homemade dishes. Visitors can look forward to specialties such as gozleme, couscous, samosas, kofta, chapli kebab, pad thai, thread cake, as well as sweet treats such as baklava and French macarons. In total, over 60 vendors will present their goods, which also include African fabrics, oriental lamps and ceramics.
Cultural supporting program
The stage program offers both traditional and modern music from different parts of the world. The highlight will be the performance of the band “Los Gonzales”, which will set the mood with a mix of Spanish and Latin American rhythms. Visitors can also expect performances from Kathak and belly dancers and many other artists, including the music trio PURA VIDA and the Al Rawabi Band, who will present Syrian sounds.
There is also an extensive children's program for younger guests, organized by the KidS department and Burbach community work. Here the children can experience games and activities from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event attracts up to 10,000 visitors every year from the region and the Saar-Lor-Lux area, who can look forward to a day full of cultural diversity.
Organizers and partners
The organization of the festival is in the hands of the Immigration and Integration Office of the state capital Saarbrücken and the Burbach community work, which is part of the Caritas Association for Saarbrücken and the surrounding area. The event is also supported by several partners such as the Burbach Cultural Association, the Saarbrücken Integration Advisory Board and other institutions.
The registration deadline for stand operators for the 2025 event has already expired. It was also pointed out in advance that the hygiene regulations in accordance with the State Office for Consumer Protection must be observed in order to ensure a safe visit.
The Oriental Market is a platform that not only offers culinary delights, but also makes an important contribution to integration and cultural exchange in the region. Last year, up to 10,000 people attended the event, which underlines the increasing popularity and positive response from visitors.
