Retreat in the Nature Friends House: What Mazloum Sido is planning now!
The gastronomy in Friedrichsthal is facing a change: Mazloum Sido, the tenant of the popular Nature Friends House, has announced that he will be leaving the house on June 30, 2025. Sido only took over the kitchen in February and brings with him extensive experience in fine dining and home-style cooking. Despite the positive response from guests to his dishes, he decided not to continue.
His Facebook post highlights the high demand for culinary events and the large number of guests. There were rarely any free places available, which underlines the popularity of the house. Dishes such as schnitzel, rump steak, a rich breakfast buffet and a la carte offerings were particularly enjoyable. In addition to the classic dishes, the Naturfreundehaus was also very popular for family celebrations.
Culinary diversity in the Nature Friends House
The Naturfreundehaus offered a wide range of dishes that can be found on most menus. Among the salads, the veggie salad priced at €9.00 was particularly popular. The special finger food dishes such as the currywurst for €3.40 or the tortilla salad plate for €13.90 were also very well received. Schnitzel in various variations, from the classic “Viennese style” to the “Friedrichsthaler Schlemmerschnitzel” for €13.90, complemented the offering.
Especially those Brizza with a pretzel dough base were very popular. The different variants, including the “Alsatian style” or the “Saarlänner”, were appreciated by the guests. The burgers, such as the cheeseburger for €6.90 or the Black Angus burger for €10.90, were also an integral part of the menu.
In addition, special children's meals, which were particularly well received by families, were offered. These included, among others, the Kids Hamburger for €2.50 and the Kids Schnipo for €6.90. The numerous options ensured that every guest, young and old, found something to their liking.
The future of the Nature Friends House
The withdrawal of Mazloum Sido raises questions about the future decision to lease the Nature Friends House. However, the positive response from guests and the high occupancy rate during his tenure indicate that the establishment could continue to be an important part of the gastronomic landscape in Friedrichsthal. The successes so far suggest that there will be some challenges ahead for the new tenant in order to continue the success and continue to delight the guests.
The Nature Friends House under Sido will be closed until the end of June. The interest and support of the community remains strong, so hope for a bright future for the house is not lost.
