Today, June 6, 2025, rainy and stormy weather is expected in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. The maximum temperatures are between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius, while in the higher mountains it remains cooler at 16 degrees. The weather situation is characterized by an extensive low over the Norwegian Sea, which leads to very changeable weather, like this German Weather Service communicates. A slight chance of isolated thunderstorms is expected in the afternoon, accompanied by gale force gusts that could reach up to 70 km/h. While there will be a strengthening south-westerly wind in the morning, gusts of up to 60 km/h will occur during the day. In mountainous areas, gusts of up to 75 km/h can even occur in isolated cases.
Outlook for the Pentecost weekend
The Whitsun weekend is expected to be characterized by a lot of rain and stormy winds. Numerous showers and possible short thunderstorms are forecast for Saturday, with maximum temperatures between 18 and 22 degrees, while in the higher mountainous areas it will only be warm up to 15 degrees. Nighttime temperatures drop to between 13 and 9 degrees, and in higher altitudes even to 7 degrees.
On Whitsunday the weather will be variable to very cloudy, with lots of showers and further short thunderstorms. The maximum temperatures are expected to be between 15 and 19 degrees, while in the mountainous areas it could only reach around 13 degrees. At night it will be partly cloudy, with decreasing showers and temperatures between 9 and 7 degrees, in the mountains even up to 4 degrees.
An optimistic conclusion to Whit Monday
There can be a little optimism for Whit Monday, as the clouds are clearing up and the weather is expected to be mostly dry. The maximum temperatures rise again to 18 to 22 degrees, reaching around 15 degrees in the higher altitudes. The night will be slightly cloudy and partly clear, with minimum temperatures between 11 and 7 degrees, locally up to 5 degrees in the Eifel.
The forecast for the coming days makes it clear that the weather in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland will remain very changeable and the population is asked to prepare for the upcoming weather conditions.
