Eichenauer, a renowned specialist for electrical heating systems based in Hatzenbühl, Rhineland-Palatinate, has been under protective shield proceedings since June 2025. This procedure enables the company to restructure itself financially and avert impending insolvency. Originally founded in Kandel in 1925, Eichenauer primarily supplies the automotive industry. But the company's situation has deteriorated drastically, which has already led to the dismissal of 50 of its 200 employees - a drastic step that affects a quarter of the workforce.
In order to reduce operating costs, part of the production was relocated to the Czech Republic. In view of the severe financial burden, management has drawn up a concrete restructuring plan. Nevertheless, it appears that the measures taken so far are not sufficient to stabilize the company in the long term.
Necessary terminations and further steps
At the beginning of July, employees were informed of the need for further layoffs. This measure is part of the effort to secure the restructuring and ensure operational continuity. The works council is committed to keeping the workforce informed about all developments. Discussions regarding the socially acceptable implementation of the layoffs are underway.
Despite the difficult circumstances, there are currently no plans to close the Hatzenbühl location. However, the future of the company depends heavily on the order situation. Functional changes are therefore possible. A central point of the restructuring plan is the search for an investor or cooperation partner. This M&A process is intended to help secure the company's future and create new perspectives.
