Annelie Schmitt will remain the disability representative in Tholey until 2027!
On June 26, 2025, it was announced that Annelie Schmitt would continue to work as a volunteer disability representative for the municipality of Tholey. On May 28, the local council decided to extend her term of office until June 30, 2027. Schmitt has served in this position for 14 years and has earned a significant place as a liaison for people with disabilities in the community. Mayor Andreas Maldener praised her commitment and described her as a competent contact person.
In her role, Schmitt not only provides support with administrative issues, but also with applications for housing, support and integration measures. Its goal is to represent the interests of disabled fellow citizens in community projects and to promote barrier-free expansion of the community. In her acceptance speech for the trust, Schmitt emphasized that her work entails great responsibility and that discretion in confidential matters is of the utmost importance to her.
Engagement and exchange
In order to fulfill her role, Annelie Schmitt regularly takes part in exchange meetings at district and state level. These meetings help her to stay up to date with the latest technical developments and to understand the current legal framework. The municipal representatives for the disabled in Saarland meet at least twice a year to exchange experiences and discuss relevant topics.
Schmitt conducts her consultation hours after making an appointment in advance. Citizens can reach them by calling (06853) 4590. Over the next two years, the Mayor plans to continue to work closely with Schmitt to improve and support the needs of people with disabilities in Tholey.
