During his term of office, Lehnert focused particularly on promoting renewable energies and implementing new construction projects.

The former master hairdresser, who ran a sustainability salon with his father, emerged as a non-party politician in 2012. His tenure was not without challenges; So he failed at a larger wind farm and had to struggle with legal disputes, including a failed lawsuit against mine water flooding. Nevertheless, Lehnert emphasized that it was important to get back up after defeats and was mostly supported by a broad majority.

Wind power projects in Nalbach

A highlight of his term in office was the approval of several wind turbines. The municipality of Nalbach recently reported news in the area of ​​renewable energies. European Energy Deutschland was awarded the contract to build a wind farm consisting of three Vestas V172 wind turbines, each with an output of 7.2 MW. The total output of the new wind farm is therefore 21.6 MW. Not only does the community benefit from these sustainable energy sources; She will also receive all income from leasing the areas.

Citizens and the community also have the opportunity to participate directly in this project, which should represent further added value for the local community. European Energy Germany is committed to ensuring environmental protection and maximizing profits for the population.

Financial significance of wind power

The importance of wind power projects for communities is becoming increasingly clear, as many communities urgently need financial income. Tagesschau reports that many communities have discovered the construction of wind turbines as an important source of income, especially in times of tight budgets. Legal regulations make it easier for wind turbine operators to access financial resources, meaning that the community of Nalbach will benefit in a similar way from the upcoming wind farm projects.

Eight municipalities had to come together to found this region. Lehnert plans to remain active in the Leader Project even in retirement and continue to advance his community.
