Fire brigade operation in Neunkirchen: Electrical device triggers alarm!

On Tuesday morning, May 20, 2025, the fire departments in Neunkirchen were alerted when a supposed building fire was reported around 9 a.m. As n-land.de reports, the emergency services from Neunkirchen, Kersbach, Rollhofen, Speikern and Lauf quickly moved out to Schulstrasse/Trutenäcker.

On site it turned out that it was not a large fire, but a small electrical appliance that had caught fire. This was located near the wall of a property and could be extinguished within five minutes. Fortunately, the emergency services from Lauf were able to stop their journey as the situation quickly calmed down. Despite the rapid firefighting, the facade of the building was damaged by smoke and soot. It remains unclear which device exactly was affected. It is suspected that it was a test device for car headlights, which was not connected to the power when the fire department arrived. The reason for the device igniting remains unknown.

Presseportal.de reports that five men had to be rescued from the burning building. Four of them suffered injuries that required hospitalization.

In this incident, the fire broke out in an apartment on the first floor and spread into the false ceiling of the attic. Several people made themselves known at windows after the escape route through the stairwell was blocked. Rescue workers used ladders to free the men from the building while firefighters battled the flames using breathing apparatus. The operation, in which around 70 fire brigade members were active, ended at around 8:30 a.m. with the “fire out” signal.

The fire-affected residents found temporary shelter with friends and family, while emergency shelter was provided by the city. The incident required support from not only the fire department, but also the Technical Relief Agency (THW) and the German Red Cross (DRK) in order to coordinate the necessary measures to deal with the crisis.

Due to these incidents, the safety of residents in Neunkirchen remains an important issue. However, the quick reactions of the fire brigade and other emergency services show the high level of commitment and professionalism of the rescue services in the region.
