KBBZ Dillingen shines again: 2.37 million euros for the future!

The Commercial Vocational Training Center (KBBZ) in Dillingen has successfully completed its extensive modernization after two years of construction. The ceremonial inauguration took place in the presence of Education Minister Christine Streichert-Clivot, District Administrator Patrik Lauer and other guests of honor. The Saarlouis district invested a total of 2.37 million euros in this important project, which focused on key aspects such as digitalization, fire protection and accessibility.

All entrances to the KBBZ were made barrier-free, a stair lift was installed and new rooms - including a social room, a sewing workshop and a self-learning island - were created. The roof, facade and outdoor area were also extensively renovated as part of the modernization. This project is part of a larger strategy that aims to make vocational training fit for the future.

Focus on digital education

The modernization measures at the KBBZ Dillingen are in line with the “Education in the Digital World” strategy, which was presented by the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs in December 2016. This strategy lays the foundation for the digital transformation of education in Germany and aims to improve the quality of teaching and school development using new technologies. Great importance is placed on the qualification of teachers in order to optimally support the digital school development processes.

The school principal Elke Schwarz described the modernization as a milestone for vocational training and the KBBZ Dillingen location. District Administrator Patrik Lauer emphasized the improvement of learning conditions and the importance of this investment for the future viability of the schools. Education Minister Christine Streichert-Clivot particularly emphasized the model nature of the project and the associated future prospects in vocational training.

Collaboration and funding

25 companies were involved in the comprehensive modernization of the KBBZ, which underlines the importance of the project for the entire region. Most of the financing came from the state and federal government's GRW grant program, which provided around 660,000 euros each. As part of this program, a total of six projects with a volume of almost 14 million euros were implemented in the Saarlouis district.

The KBBZ Dillingen, which was founded in 1952 as a primary school and has functioned as a vocational school since 1973, will serve as a health-oriented learning location for the digital working world in the future. This development is not only a benefit for the institution itself, but also for the entire region and its educational offerings.
