St. Ingbert in mourning: Voit on the brink of extinction – 680 jobs at risk!
The mood among the employees of the automotive supplier Voit Automative in St. Ingbert is currently at an all-time low. The works council fears that the majority of employees will lose their jobs by the end of the year. There is great anger, particularly among Voit employees, about the main customer ZF, which has announced that it will no longer take over parts from Voit. This leads to a tense situation, because in good times there were around 1,000 employees at Voit's headquarters in St. Ingbert. Only yesterday did a ZF spokeswoman comment on this topic for the first time, which further heated up tempers as uncertainty about the future of the company and jobs has existed for some time now. The Saarbrücker Zeitung reports on current developments.
Voit Automative is facing closure after the company, which was founded in 1947 and employs around 2,000 people worldwide, has struggled with financial difficulties in recent years. These difficulties were exacerbated by ZF's declining orders. Production at the St. Ingbert plant is scheduled to cease by October 2026. Loud T Online ZF is not planning any new orders with Voit in the short or medium term, which further endangers the company's existence.
Impact on employees
More than 680 Voit employees will be outsourced to a transfer company to ease the transition. But many of them are worried about the uncertainties and the impending end of their business. St. Ingbert's mayor Ulli Meyer expressed his shock at the dramatic situation and the prospect of massive job losses in the region.
The economic problems of ZF, which suffered a loss of 195 million euros in the first half of the year, also affect Voit. ZF has also announced that it plans to cut up to 14,000 jobs in Germany by the end of 2028. Since the beginning of 2024, over 5,700 jobs have been lost at ZF, and many employees are affected by reduced working hours. This development shows how fragile the situation in the automotive supply industry has become. The uncertainty will continue to concern both Voit's employees and the entire St. Ingbert region for a long time.
