Crocodile attack on child: Ciudad Madero on alert!
In Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, a five-year-old boy was attacked by a crocodile in a flooded street. The incident occurred following intense rains in Sahop Colony that have severely affected the region for the past few days. The crocodile bit the boy's leg, but he was quickly taken to the Hospital Civil de Ciudad Madero and is now out of danger, reports Posta.
The increase in crocodile sightings in urban areas is perceived as alarming, especially during floods. The heavy rains have caused water accumulation in various parts of the city, forcing animals to leave their natural habitats. In the last four days, 38 crocodiles have already been caught in different areas of Ciudad Madero.
Special precautions taken by the authorities
Local authorities have intensified monitoring and relocation efforts for these animals, particularly in the Ampliación de la Unidad Nacional colony, where several sightings of crocodiles, including one over two meters long, have been reported. Citizens are urged to avoid flooded areas and keep children away from bodies of water. Sightings should be reported immediately to Civil Defense, while staying away from densely vegetated areas and open canals is recommended.
The weather situation remains tense as constant rains and flooding continue to affect roads in Ciudad Madero and surrounding areas. At least four crocodiles have been spotted in the flooded streets of the Unidad Nacional colony, causing great concern and fear among local residents. Further incidents such as the explosion of a shaft in the center of Tampico increase the critical situation in the region.
In addition to the threat posed by the crocodiles, citizens have reported that civil defense authorities in Tampico, Madero and Altamira have been alerted. Fire service reports confirm that three crocodiles were spotted from their habitats in the Laguna del Carpintero to Bulevar Fidel Velázquez.
Risks for residents
The presence of the Moreletti crocodile, which can grow up to four meters long, poses a potential danger, especially if it feels threatened or disoriented. The current situation requires special attention to prevent possible attacks on the population, and the relevant authorities are actively working to minimize the risks. El Manana notes that sightings remain worrying, particularly in the flooded colonies and lagoons around Ciudad Madero.
