Giessen swimmers despite the rain: records and titles at championships!

The Giessen Swimming Club (GSV) took part in several competitions last weekend and achieved impressive results, despite adverse weather conditions. The participants not only brought their skills but also their determination, which resulted in a multitude of medals and titles. [Gießener Allgemeine](https://www.giessener- Allgemeine.de/sport/lokalsport/widere-conditions-93762268.html) reports that the GSV athletes particularly shone at the Hessian Masters Championships in Bad Homburg, where they won seven titles and a total of 14 medals.

Among the participants was Dr. Doro von Ritter-Röhr, who competed in her first competition at the age of 83 and won two titles in her age group in the 50 meter backstroke and 50 meter freestyle. Diana Ewe, in the 45 age group, continued her winning streak and won the titles in the 100 meter freestyle in 1:09.97 minutes and the 50 meter freestyle in 30.90 seconds.

Successes of young talents

The performance of the younger swimmers was particularly noteworthy. Marie Moersch (born in 2000) triumphed in the 25 age group in the 100 meter backstroke in 1:20.06 minutes, while Lisa Piechulek (1998) won the 200 meter freestyle in 2:34.89 minutes. Moritz Christ (2011) achieved a best time in the 50 meter butterfly with 35.06 seconds and also secured victory in the 50 meter freestyle in 28.99 seconds.

  • Ravza Ceylan (2011) siegte über 100 Meter in 1:46,01 Minuten und 50 Meter Brust in 46,70 Sekunden. Außerdem wurde sie Zweite über 100 Meter Freistil in 1:22,46 Minuten.
  • Emily Franz (2009) brachte zwei Silbermedaillen nach Hause: 50 Meter Brust in 44,51 Sekunden und 100 Meter Brust in 1:39,11 Minuten.
  • Lily Hau (2007) gewann mehrere Wettbewerbe, unter anderem 100 Meter Freistil in 1:06,49 Minuten sowie 200 Meter Freistil in 2:28,39 Minuten und 200 Meter Lagen in 2:48,90 Minuten.

Between the Masters and the boys

The GSV competition group also faced the challenge of the bad weather conditions, which affected the competition. Felix Seitz was able to qualify for the South German Championships in Stuttgart in the 50 meter freestyle, but finished in the middle of the field with a time of 27.22 seconds. Ann Kristin Neuloh-Stein won the runner-up title in the 400 meter freestyle and also secured two third places in the 200 meter freestyle and 100 meter butterfly.

Marc Daniel Kohl Schütter (1983) won two runner-up titles in the 40 age group: the 50 meter freestyle in 28.83 seconds and the 100 meter freestyle in 1:07.12 minutes. Triathlete Claudius Pyrlik became Hessian runner-up in the 50 age group in the 200 meter freestyle in 2:46.56 minutes.

GSV coach Stefan Alt announced that the next competitions will take place in indoor swimming pools, which will hopefully offer better conditions for the athletes. Further results and information can be found on the official GSV website at GSV Swimming.
