Summer holidays 2025: Discover the Völklingen children's program online now!
The city of Völklingen presented its children's holiday program for the coming summer holidays today, May 24, 2025. This program, which was developed in collaboration with various clubs, organizations and institutions, offers a variety of exciting activities for children. The program can now be downloaded from the city of Völklingen's website, which Völklingen im Wandel announces.
The children's holiday program includes both sporting and creative activities. Highlights include aquaball, learning magic, medieval show fighting, pony hikes and trial fishing. Mayor Stephan Tautz emphasizes the commitment of the participating clubs and organizations, which have put together a varied program.
Diverse offers for creative minds
A special part of the program takes place in the Kassiopeia children's and youth art school. Here children can try out a variety of artistic techniques, including painting, printing and textile art. In cooperation with the Saarbrücken city association, special offers are also offered in primary schools. These include shadow theater, dance and making stick puppets. The City of Völklingen emphasizes that creativity is very important here.
In addition, there are a variety of activities in the children's house in the afternoons, such as a cooking and reading club as well as a textile workshop where cuddly toys and pillows can be made. For those interested in the media, the media workshop, in collaboration with the KulturGut association, offers courses on topics such as photography and image editing. Kassiopeia also makes it possible to use creative offers in different parts of the city in order to reach as many children as possible.
Sporting activities and sustainable information
The modern Völklingen skater park is available for children who are active in sports. This offers an asphalt area of around 600 square meters and consists of six different elements, including ramps and grind pyra. The skate park is a popular meeting place for young people and includes additional facilities such as benches and covered “lounging beams”.
In order to make the program as environmentally friendly as possible, the information is not printed in printed form. Instead, information sheets with QR codes and links to the program were distributed in kindergartens and schools. These also contain registration information and contact options for interested parents. The flyer about this offer was handed over to, among others, the interim head of the Haydnstrasse daycare center, Sarah Haase.
