The city of Töging is investing 185,000 euros in the new St. Josef parish hall!

The city of Töging in the Altötting district has decided to provide a construction cost subsidy for the new construction of the St. Josef parish hall. The grant amounts to ten percent of the planned total costs of 1.85 million euros, but a maximum of 185,000 euros. This was decided in a unanimous vote in the city council after the main committee had discussed the issue in advance, as pnp.de reports.

The design of the new building envisages a simple design without luxury, which serves the aim of integrating the character of the parish hall into the urban development situation. This is characterized by a large expanse of streets and squares and is intended to be strengthened by the presence of the parish hall in the northern boundary of the property. This is additionally supported by the further development of the street space and the focus on the church, the church square and the parish hall, as feja-kemper.de explains.

Functionality of the new building

The aim is to have the main entrance centrally aligned with the church square and the church. The spacious hall is oriented towards the community lawn and offers close integration with an adjacent foyer. Other rooms such as the community offices are deliberately oriented towards the public space, while the kitchen and the counter occupy a central location within the building.

A special component of the new building is the youth room, which will be both integrated and separately accessible, including an atrium-like outdoor space. If necessary, the group room can be combined with the hall, which offers additional flexibility and usage options.

Access and outdoor space design

The development of the parish hall is characterized by a clear separation between the public church square and the private community lawn. The church square will be paved and enriched with seating under trees. The community lawn remains largely untouched and is supplemented by a terrace in front of the hall and a paved seating area at the rear of the property. Parking spaces are decentralized and assigned to different uses, including disabled parking spaces located near the entrance.

Building materials and construction methods

The parish hall is built from dark, red brick, which differs from the material used in the church, but still forms an attractive ensemble. The facades of the new building will be designed with different opening proportions in order to do justice to the respective uses and the relationship to the outside space. The interior design uses light limestone floors, wooden door panels and acoustically effective suspended ceilings made of perforated plasterboard panels. Overall, the building is designed as a conventional solid construction, which benefits its longevity and stability.

With this initiative, the city of Töging not only wants to improve the quality of stay in the area around the church, but also create a space that meets the needs of the community and at the same time focuses on functionality.
