A 21-year-old Slovenian lost control of his vehicle on the Vetterstätt municipal road around 6:20 p.m. The long right-hand bend was his downfall when he left the road and fell over the right side of the vehicle. The quad ended up upside down. Despite wearing a helmet, the driver suffered significant injuries and had to be taken by ambulance to the St. Johann district hospital. After the accident, the oil from the quad bike left a dangerous pool on the road, which the fire department cleaned up with oil binding agent. This incident in Ellmau is in the context of another tragic quad bike accident that occurred on September 1, 2024 in Kirchberg in Tirol. As MeinBezirk describes, three people, including two men aged 22 and 23 and a 22-year-old woman, were driving a quad bike on a forest road. For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the road and fell down an embankment.

The Kirchberg mountain rescue service was deployed with 15 emergency services, supported by 35 members of the Aschau volunteer fire department. Two emergency medical helicopters and nine rescue workers were also involved in the operation.
