Five injured after serious van accident near Ennigerloh!

In the early morning hours of June 5, 2025, a serious accident occurred on the L 793 between Ennigerloh-Westkirchen and Ostenfelde. A van driven by a 56-year-old driver from Nordhorn left the road around 3:40 a.m. and crashed into a tree. Five men were injured, as the Warendorf police reported. Most of the occupants, aged 21 to 32, were able to get out of the vehicle themselves, while one person had to be rescued by the fire department.

The injuries of those affected vary: one person was seriously injured while the other four were slightly injured. Rescue workers immediately transported the injured to nearby hospitals. The L 793 had to be closed until 6:10 a.m. and the total property damage is estimated at around 32,000 euros. The exact cause of the accident is currently unknown and authorities are still investigating.

Ennigerloh has been the scene of several traffic accidents in the past. For example, on March 24, 2023, there was an incident in which a truck got stuck under a bridge. The 35-year-old driver, who works in a cement factory, was seriously injured. According to initial investigations, he had forgotten to lower the trough of his construction machine into the correct position, which led to the vehicle becoming wedged in the tunnel of the bridge to the B475.

In this case, the driver was trapped in the cab and could only be freed with the help of quarry employees using a ladder. The fire department secured the vehicle and released the scene after a short time. The B475 was closed for several hours due to the accident while the stability of the bridge was checked by the employees of Straßen NRW. The road was then reopened in the afternoon.
