Speed camera alarm in St. Gallen: Where you need to be particularly careful now!
On June 14, 2025, it will be time again to inform drivers in the canton of St. Gallen about the upcoming speed controls. As toggenburg24.ch reports, speed camera locations can be moved at short notice, which means that drivers have to expect speed checks at any time and anywhere. It is therefore advisable to always pay attention to the speed limits to avoid possible penalties.
It is particularly relevant that the semi-stationary speed cameras in St. Gallen are not included on the cantonal police's published list. The St. Gallen city police are responsible for these controls, while the city highway falls under the responsibility of the cantonal police. However, the city police do not publish detailed locations of the speed cameras, but do provide an overview of street names where regular measurements are taken.
Current location list of speed checks
There is also an updated list of speed controls in the canton of St. Gallen, which is valid from February 16, 2024. This list, which is provided by the St. Gallen cantonal police, contains the locations of mobile speed measuring systems, but neither information about semi-stationary speed cameras of the city police nor a guaranteed up-to-date overview, as the locations can change at short notice. The aim of this measure is to increase road safety by adjusting the speed, as polizeiticker.ch highlights.
The speed checks take place at the following locations:
- Altstätten – Kriessernstrasse
- Berneck – Heerbrugg – Bahnstrasse
- Eschenbach – Bürgstrasse
- Gaiserwald – Engelburg – St.Gallerstrasse
- Kirchberg – Fürstenlandstrasse
- Mels – Autobahn A13
- Nesslau – Neu St.Johann – Toggenburgerstrasse
- Oberuzwil – Wilen-Watt – Flawilerstrasse
- Sennwald – Hauptstrasse
- St.Gallen – Autobahn A1
- Thal – Buechen – Wilenstrasse
Given this growing number of controls in the canton, it is crucial to always keep an eye on the speed limits and take the authorities' advice seriously. By driving responsibly, everyone can help increase road safety in the region.
