Garbage collection postponed: New dates for Ascension Day!

On May 22, 2025, the city will provide information about changes to garbage collection due to the Ascension Day holiday. This week the collection times for residual and organic waste as well as the blue paper bin and yellow bin will be adjusted. Instead of the regular collection, the affected bins will now be emptied on Friday, May 30th. This happens due to the postponement taking into account the holiday. The regular collection dates for Friday, May 30th will then be rescheduled for Saturday, May 31st, as Dudweiler Blog reports.

Residents have the option of receiving collection dates via an automatic reminder function via email. This practical solution is accessible via the ZKE website at www.zke-sb.de/erinnerung. In addition, the “My ZKE” app offers an address-specific collection calendar that provides push reminders for up to three addresses.

The changes to the collection dates particularly affect the collection of residual and organic waste as well as paper and yellow bins. These adjustments apply to the Ascension Day holiday, which falls on May 29 this year. The organic waste bin will not be collected on this day, while collection will take place the following day.

In addition to the changes to the collection schedule, there is also information about the ZKE's opening hours during the holidays. According to Saar News, citizens can check the specific opening times on the ZKE website to avoid any inconvenience.

The automated reminder function and the mobile app offer a modern solution to inform residents about upcoming changes in collection locations and to make waste disposal efficient.
