Burbach's fire department gets a modern home: 2.7 million for safety!

The topping-out ceremony for a new fire station in Holzhausen was celebrated in Burbach on August 14, 2025. The project, which will cost around 2.7 million euros, not only offers the Holzhausen fire department modern rooms and a large vehicle hall, but also space for the youth fire department. There are also plans to set up a children's fire department. Mayor Christoph Ewers described the project as an important step for security and community in Burbach.

The new building is intended to better prepare the fire department for future challenges. At the celebration, master carpenter Peter Menges spoke the traditional topping-out saying, which marked the symbolic completion of the shell construction work. The new building is being built right next to the kindergarten and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.

Sustainability in focus

A central concern of this construction project is sustainability. The building will be constructed using modern materials such as wood and will have a green roof and a heat pump. This highlights the community's efforts to meet green building standards.

The state of North Rhine-Westphalia provided funding of 250,000 euros for this important project. Completion of the outdoor facilities is scheduled for spring 2026, creating a comprehensive area for the fire department and the community.

Investments in the fire department are not only of great importance for community safety, they also strengthen the sense of community. Thanks to the additional premises and the planned children's and youth fire brigade, young people will be encouraged to fight fires at an early stage.
