Rhineland-Palatinate Day: Discover diversity and experience climate protection!
On May 22, 2025, the city of Neustadt an der Weinstraße is expecting a special event: Rhineland-Palatinate Day. This holiday is used by Climate Protection Minister Katrin Eder to celebrate the diversity and beauty of the state and to draw attention to important issues such as climate protection and sustainable nutrition. The event offers visitors the opportunity to obtain information at numerous stands and to actively participate.
Visitors are warmly invited to visit the Ministry of Climate Change’s stands and find out more about healthy and sustainable nutrition. This also includes initiatives to promote seasonal products from the Neustadt region. A special highlight will be a cooking bus from the State Center for Environmental Education, which will present projects from the “Rhineland-Palatinate eats better” campaign.
Climate protection and flood prevention
Eder emphasizes the importance of climate protection and the prevention of natural disasters. The water management stand will offer a 3D flood prevention simulation to help visitors prepare for emergencies. The Climate Protection Ministry and subordinate authorities such as the State Office for the Environment (LfU) and the Rhineland-Palatinate State Forests are also active and are presenting various campaigns that are intended to promote dialogue about climate protection.
Rhineland-Palatinate faces the challenges of climate protection through legally defined climate targets that are anchored in the state climate protection law. With the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% by 2020 compared to 1990, Rhineland-Palatinate has already achieved 39% according to the 2022 climate protection report. Further goals such as a climate-neutral state administration by 2030 and a reduction of 90% by 2050 have also been set.
Interactive offers and discussions
The topic of training will not be neglected at the Rhineland-Palatinate Day: the state forests will provide information about career opportunities in the forestry sector. As an additional attraction, visitors have the opportunity to try out a burning peter on birch wood discs. The entire event is rounded off by the use of interactive offers that invite you to participate.
Katrin Eder will be present on Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. She plans to hold discussions at the NABU stand, at the GNOR and at the Omas gegen Rechts. Eder will also take part in the CITY CYCLING award ceremony at 4 p.m. At the same time, State Secretary Erwin Manz will visit Rhineland-Palatinate Day on Friday and Michael Hauer on Saturday to honor the diversity of the state.
Rhineland-Palatinate Day is therefore not only a celebration of culture and tradition, but also a platform to raise awareness of the pressing issues of climate protection and sustainable development in the state.
