Luxembourg's volleyball men celebrate a clear win against Iceland in Bertrange
Luxembourg's volleyball men impressively won their first game in the Silver League against Iceland. The match took place in Bertrange and ended clearly 3-0 for the Luxembourgers. A Belgian-German referee team led the exciting duel, in which Luxembourg acted powerfully from the start. In the first set the team was already leading 3-0 and 7-4 before Iceland was able to catch up but lost the set to Luxembourg 25-18. Luxembourg also started strongly in the second set with 7:2 and gave Iceland no chance to reduce the deficit, so that it ended 25:15 for Luxembourg.
The third set, however, started unluckily for the Luxembourgers, who were 0:4 behind. But the team quickly found its way back into the game and was able to equalize at 10:10 and move ahead to 20:16. The final score of 25:20 secured the 3-0 victory and continued the team's motivation for the upcoming games in the Silver League. Particularly noteworthy are the performances of Zuidberg and Gajin, who contributed significantly to the score. Gajin noted that the Icelanders' motivation was lower compared to the last game in Andorra.

Upheaval and a sense of responsibility
Camille Esselin, a top performer on the women's team, will rotate between teams as the women play in North Macedonia at the same time. Their commitment shows the sense of responsibility in a team that is in transition and wants to offer young players valuable experience. Given these challenges, participation in the Silver League is crucial to secure points for the international ranking.
Overall, sport is on the rise for Luxembourg, both for men and women, as shown by the games and the strategic decisions of the coaches. The pressure to be successful in the Silver League is high, but the motivation and talent of the players promise exciting encounters in the coming weeks.
