Experience LUGA 2025: A garden festival full of art and nature!

The city of Luxembourg is currently attracting numerous visitors who want to experience the “Luxembourg Urban Garden” (LUGA) event. This series of events began on May 7, 2025 and will last until October 18, 2025. Taking place in several locations, including Luxembourg City and Ettelbruck, LUGA aims to celebrate urban gardens and innovative green concepts.

Over 50 installations can be discovered as part of LUGA. The focus is on artistic works and sustainable projects. Visitors can experience a variety of landscape installations, artistic expressions and agricultural initiatives. Of particular note are the impressive sculptures made from willow branches, created by landscape artist Tom Hare. These works harmonize with the surrounding nature, which is characterized by tall grasses, flowering herbs and a variety of bees and bumblebees.

Participants and activities

The event is supported by a wide range of actors, including Luxembourg and international landscape architects, artists as well as gardeners and farmers. The extensive program offers creative workshops, thematic hikes and informative tours, all aimed at highlighting sustainability and design issues in urban space for people and nature.

A central element of LUGA is the inclusion of visitors in the dialogue about current environmental challenges and solutions for a sustainable future. Topics range from respecting biodiversity to promoting modern urban agriculture and the circular economy. So far, more than 30 urban gardens are expected in five emblematic natural locations in Luxembourg, including the Petrusse Valley, the Parc Municipal Edouard André, the Pescatore Foundation Park, the Alzette Valley and Kirchberg.

Logistical details and accessibility

Exploring the LUGA is recommended due to long distances between the installations, which is why cycling is considered the ideal mode of transport. Bicycles can easily be transported to Luxembourg by train or rented on site. In addition, public transport in Luxembourg is free, which makes the visit even easier.

Entry to most LUGA gardens is free, but two installations charge fees: “La Serre Merveilleuse” in the Édouard André city park and “The Lower World” in the city’s aquatic tunnel. Particularly noteworthy events include the LUGA Summer Festival Days, which will take place on the weekends of August 31st, September 7th and September 14th, 2025. The event will end with a closing ceremony on October 18th in the Alzette Valley and will culminate on October 19th in the Nordstad of Ettelbruck.
