Fascination with old tracks: photo competition about the MBE starts!
The association “Brotdorf – My Homeland e.V.” and the “Association for Local History Merzig e. V.” invite you to take part in this year's photo competition. The theme of the competition is “Future of the former Merzig-Büschfelder Railway”, which was left to fall into disrepair years ago and stretches over a distance of 22.5 kilometers. The motto of the 2025 competition is: “On the move along old tracks – the MBE in focus”. The deadline for submitting photos is July 15, 2025, as reported by wochenspiegelonline.de.
The award ceremony for the winning photos will take place on August 10, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. as part of the popular Freeschenfest in Brotdorf. The best photographs are then presented to the public in a small exhibition. In addition to the ceremonial award, prizes will be awarded for the three best pictures, including a €100 Merziger City voucher from VHG for first place and vouchers from Café Louis/Merzig & Losheim and Blumen Schuster/Besseringen for second and third place.

In addition, special prizes will be awarded in four categories: “Kaputt”, “From Above”, “Rainy Weather” and “On Merziger Spell”. The winning photos are selected by members of the two clubs on the basis of evaluation criteria such as the creative implementation of the topic, the image design and the quality of the photos. - Maximal fünf Fotos pro Person sind erlaubt.
- Die Einreichung erfolgt digital per E-Mail an heimatkundemerzig@gmail.com.
- Jeder Teilnehmer muss die volle Urheberschaft der Fotos besitzen und die Rechte Dritter respektieren.
- Die eingereichten Fotos dürfen ohne Zustimmung nicht durch künstliche Intelligenz, Rahmen, Grafikelemente, Collagen oder nachträglich hinzugefügte Texte verändert werden.
- Zu jedem Foto sollte ein Titel, eine kurze Bildbeschreibung sowie eine Ortsangabe angegeben werden.
Photos that take part in the competition may be published indefinitely unless otherwise requested. Potential participants are requested to pay close attention to the conditions of participation. The contributions not only promise creative insights into the topic, but also an opportunity to promote unity between the homeland and its history.
