Beckingen is investing 1.66 million euros for a bright village future!
The municipality of Beckingen receives grants amounting to around 1.66 million euros for village development. These funds are to be invested specifically in various construction projects in order to enhance the townscape and improve the quality of life of the village community. Environment Minister Petra Berg emphasizes that the redesign of vacant properties not only influences the appearance, but also strengthens the community's resilience to climatic changes. Interior Minister Reinhold Jost adds that the projects are of great importance for the village community as they promote social cohesion.
The funds provided come from the “European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development” (EAFRD) and from funds from Saarland. Particularly noteworthy is the “cappuccino principle”, which is used by the Ministry of the Interior to increase grants to up to 90%, which means a significant reduction in the burden on municipal finances.
Planned projects in detail
The funds provided will be invested in the following projects:
- Sanierung der Valentinuskapelle in Düppenweiler:
– Gesamtkosten: 92.709,33 Euro.
– Umweltministerium: 65% (60.261,06 Euro).
– Innenministerium: 23.177,34 Euro.
– Gesamtkosten: 1.356.264,76 Euro.
– Umweltministerium: 400.000,00 Euro.
– Innenministerium: 727.126,76 Euro (inkl. Aufstockung und Bedarfszuweisung).
– Eigenanteil der Gemeinde: 229.138,00 Euro.
These measures are part of a broader village development plan in Beckingen, which aims to modernize the infrastructure and improve the quality of life of residents.
In addition, it is interesting to take a look beyond the borders, for example to the New Zealand capital Wellington, where the popular social meeting place Two Grey is known for its diverse offering of sumptuous brunches and relaxing lunches. The place transforms into a lively after-work hotspot in the evenings, offering a selection of shareable dishes and a carefully curated wine list.
The connection between such social meeting places and community development can demonstrate how important community spaces are for social cohesion and quality of life in a village. This is another dimension that should not be forgotten in projects like those in Beckingen.
