In the Tholey pastoral area, the Evangelical parish of St. Wendel-Illtal and the parish community at Schaumberg have launched a special initiative. For the fifth time, a “place for listening” will be set up on the Schaumberg and will be open from July 2nd to August 31st. The civil community in Tholey is supporting this project logistically to create a platform for discussions and support.
The “place of listening” is being created at the Herzweg car park and offers people the opportunity to exchange ideas, ask questions or simply listen. The construction trailer will be operational during opening hours between Wednesday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The official opening will take place with an ecumenical service on July 1st at 6 p.m., but this will only take place if the weather is good. The ecumenical trailer team is led by Pastor Gabi Kräuter and pastoral advisor Dr. Carola Fleck headed it, as reported by wochenspiegelonline.de.
An open ear for everyone
The “place of listening” concept is based on the idea that the church actively addresses the needs and problems of local people. The initiative not only promotes dialogue, but also community and understanding between people. Following this philosophy, a confidential environment is created where each person is welcome to share their thoughts and concerns.
“The listening places provide a framework for conversations about various topics and promote pastoral support,” explains Dr. Carola Fleck in an interview. “We want to create a contact point that gives people the opportunity to reflect and support each other.” This corresponds to the organizers' desire to establish the church as a place of encounter and togetherness. This measure will take place for the first time from July 3rd to September 1st, 2024, as emphasized on warndt.evks.de.
This ongoing initiative at Schaumberg sends a strong message that open communication and listening are of great importance in today's world. The two months of the event allow people to connect on a personal level and find solutions to their everyday worries together. Those responsible are looking forward to numerous visitors and the beginning of dialogues that can be continued in the future.
