Art from others: Street art exhibition starts in Saarwellingen!
The exhibition “Art by Others” by the renowned artist Jürgen Nowel will open at the “Altes Rathaus” cultural meeting place in Saarwellingen on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 11 a.m. The event offers an exciting opportunity to experience the multifaceted world of street art, which Nowel has documented for many years. His photographic work is the result of an intensive examination of urban spaces, starting in Berlin in the 1990s after the fall of the Wall.
With a focus on the aesthetic appeal of ephemeral works of art, Nowel shows how street art can be understood as an expression of contemporary social change. “Art by Others” invites visitors to view the transformation of urban environments through street art as a living testimony to the times. The exhibition runs until October 11, 2025, entry is free. Visitors can take a look at the impressive works from Tuesday to Saturday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wochenspiegel Online reports that the opening dates and opening times are also listed on the cultural meeting website.
A diverse cultural program
The vernissage is the start of a varied cultural program at the Kulturtreff. On Friday, September 5, 2025, there will be a concert with Andrea Bettinger and Klaus Boots at 8 p.m., with admission prices €12 (reduced €10). The musicians present a mixture of blues, soul and rock, with pieces by Adele and Zuccero as well as their own compositions. There will also be another highlight on Sunday, September 14th: Lisa Helfer will perform her program “Coup de foudre” about love and great feelings. Admission to this event is free.
The cultural program also offers a variety of other events, including performances, readings and regular jam sessions. Upcoming dates in September include the performance by Ulrike Rech and Klemens Althapp on September 21st and the concert “Zitronenblau”, which promises an interesting mix of singing and spoken word. The final concert of ProJazzO, a workshop with jazz musicians from Germany, will take place on October 4th, before Helmut Eisel and Nino Deda take the stage with “Klezmer Goes Balkan” on October 10th. This variety of events is part of the Saarwellingen municipality's extensive cultural program, which aims to promote the region's cultural diversity. Saarnews lists all details about the events.
The exciting program and the opening of the exhibition “Art by Others” represent an important enrichment for the cultural scene in Saarwellingen and invite citizens and visitors to discover and enjoy the variety of artistic expressions. The combination of visual and musical art creates a lively and appealing atmosphere in the “Altes Rathaus” cultural meeting place.
