The context of the German championship
The German Championship is not just a competition, but a festive event for the whole family. Every year in late summer, Germany's best shooters meet at the Olympic shooting range in Munich/Hochbrück. The participants come from various disciplines, including long gun, handgun, shotgun and crossbow, and compete under the strict rules of the ISSF. With the number of participants growing every year, the event is often compared to major international competitions, such as the Olympic Games, which usually have fewer athletes competing.
The term “German” encompasses not only the language, but also cultural and sporting identities that represent an important part of society. Among other things, it describes the historical roots and diversity of the German people, so that the athletes' successes also reflect to a certain extent the identity and pride of the nation. The term therefore has not only linguistic but also cultural dimensions, which are manifested in the performances of the shooters.
