Neunkirchen is fighting against illegal waste disposal: a big problem!

Neunkirchen is facing a significant problem with illegal dumping of waste, particularly in Werksgasse. According to a report by meinkreis.at City councilor Günther Kautz (SPÖ) observed the situation and expressed concern about the different types of waste being disposed of there. The deposits include old upholstered furniture, toys, electronic waste and a disused caravan. Kautz noted that the materials appear to be brought in by cars and dumped illegally.

In addition, Kautz explained that the unsightly piles of garbage in the area of the Eltz buildings are becoming an increasing burden on the neighborhood. The disposal of this waste urgently requires a solution to protect not only the environment but also the general cityscape.

New regulations for waste disposal

A new regulation for the collection of bulky waste has already been introduced, which will apply from July 1, 2023. This regulation, which can be found on the Neunkirchen city administration website neunkirchen.de can be found, stipulates that wooden objects must be provided separately from other bulky waste. Collection will take place on the same day, but in two separate, possibly staggered tours.

The aim of separate collection is to ensure optimal utilization of the waste wood, for example for the production of chipboard or pellets. However, materials that have been chemically treated or coated with varnish do not constitute waste wood and are exempt from the regulation. These measures comply with the requirements of the Circular Economy Act, which promotes the efficient use of materials.

Urban development and needs analysis

In Gloggnitz there are also plans for two community-owned properties that are currently empty. The new city boss René Blum plans to convert the old town hall into a kindergarten because there is a need for three kindergarten groups and a day care facility for small children. This initiative can also potentially contribute to improving local infrastructure and help alleviate the waste problem in the area.

Finally, the city of Neunkirchen offers further information on gasoline and diesel prices in Lower Austria, which is updated regularly to provide citizens with the cheapest gas station prices.
