Handicrafts and culinary delights: Market of the senses in the Johannesbachklamm!
The picturesque Johannesbachklamm between Würflach and Greith will be the venue for the “Encounter of the 5 Senses” market days on June 1, 2025. On the occasion of the tenth handicraft and natural products market, a variety of regional products will be presented. There are a total of 65 stalls offering a wide range of products from jams and oils to pottery and wooden objects. The organizer, Katharina Resch, ensures that there is something for every taste.
The market is also accompanied by musical performances. The band “FREE FALLIN” with the artists Steve Pardoe and Silvana Mock will entertain visitors with live music, while the Würflach curling club will provide culinary catering. The talented artisans Steffi Huber, Bettina Schaller, Barbara Gut, Carmen Schlögel and Theresa Radlbauer will also be represented with their products at the event.
The Johannesbachklamm as a natural experience
The Johannesbachklamm itself is not only a meeting place, but also a popular excursion destination for nature lovers. This 1 kilometer long natural area offers a welcome cool down in summer. Due to the shady location and the rock massif, it is cooler here than in the surrounding area. The gorge is ideal for an adventurous walk that is suitable for both children and promises various natural discoveries - from fire salamanders to rare plants. The path leads over stairs, bridges and footbridges and is easily accessible.
Visitors should keep in mind that the gorge is often overcrowded on weekends. A more relaxing experience is available during the week. Parking options at the gorge entrance, not far from the “KlammWirtin” snack station, make the visit easier. This enchanting location remains attractive all year round, especially in late spring, summer and autumn.
Further developments in Gloggnitz
While the market days in the gorge are causing a sensation, those responsible in Gloggnitz are busy redesigning two empty, community-owned properties. City boss René Blum is planning to convert a former daycare center into a doctor's office. In addition, a new kindergarten project is being planned in the former town hall in order to meet the need for three kindergarten groups and day care options for small children.
All of these initiatives not only increase the attractiveness of the Johannesbachklamm, but also promote social and cultural life in the region. Visitors are warmly invited to explore the variety of handicraft products and enjoy the natural surroundings of the gorge.
